Aloo Paratha is a whole wheat flatbread with masala potato filling. Parathas are often made for breakfast. This can be served with butter/pickle/Curd. A very heavy breakfast for energy-filled mornings.


In a bowl, add 2 cups of wheat flour and 1/2 tsp of salt. Mix well
Add water little by little and start kneading the dough.

Knead to form smooth & soft dough. Add 1 tbsp of oil at the end and rest the dough for 15-20 minutes.

Boil the potatoes in a pressure cooker for 5-8 whistles.

Once the potatoes are boiled, peel the skin of the potato and let it cool down.

Cut the green chillies and coriander leaves.

In a bowl, mash the potato, add green chillies, ajwain, cumin powder, garam masala, red chilli powder, chat masala, amchur powder, salt and coriander leaves. You can adjust the spices/powders as per the taste.

Mix everything well & keep it aside.

Now make balls of sufficient size from dough which were prepared.

Take one dough and roll it into a circle of about 4-5 inches wide.

Apply 1/2 tsp of oil and spread it over the rolled dough.

Now place around 2-3 tbsp of stuffing in the center.

Now bring all edges to the center and seal it properly.

Now roll this dough using a rolling pin. Use atta while rolling so that it won't stick to the rolling pin.
Apply equal pressure and roll it to circle & as much thickness required.

Heat tawa and apply ghee/oil to tawa.
Transfer the rolled paratha to the tawa. spread 1/2 tsp oil/ghee on paratha. Cook for a minute.
Flip the paratha on the other side. Press gently the paratha so that it cooks well.
Cook the paratha on both sides until the paratha is cooked well.

Hot Aloo paratha is ready to serve with Boondi raita/pickle/Butter.
