Delicious homemade Rava Idly, for your healthy morning breakfast. Easy to prepare and tasty along with coconut chutney.
In a pan, add 2 cups of bombay rava (medium rava/sooji), dry roast the rava for 10 mins on medium flame until it turns slightly brown/till you get the aroma of rava. Keep stirring during the process, otherwise, rava will get burnt. Once it is roasted, keep it aside.
You can use either dry green peas or fresh peas.
If you are using dry peas, soak them overnight, then you can keep the green peas for boiling the next day. If you are using fresh peas, you can directly keep them for boiling.
Grate 1/2 cup of carrot and keep it aside.
Prepare the mixture of curd and water. The ratio for 1 cup of curd- add 3/4 cup of water. This is for 1 cup of rava, so double the mixture for 2 cups. We require 3.5 cups of mixture. Make it ready and keep it aside.
In a pan, add 1 tbsp oil. Once the oil is heated, add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp urad dal, and then cashew nuts (10-15 no's). Once the mustard seeds start spurting, add cooked greens peas, and grated carrot, keep frying for 3-5 mins.
Add roasted rava to the pan and mix it thoroughly.
Add curd mixture to the pan, add 1 tsp of lemon juice, 1 tsp of sugar, and salt as per taste. Mix it properly, do not add any extra water.
Add the rava idli batter to the idli stand and steam it for 15-20 mins.
Enjoy the delicious hot rava idli with the coconut chutney of your choice.
