Crunchy sweet potato chips. Easy to prepare, a very tasty tea-time snack.
Peel the skin of the sweet potatoes.
Cut the sweet potatoes into thin slices. (I used the food processor to slice sweet potato). You can also use the slicer to cut.
Add the sliced sweet potato to water to avoid decolouring, and drain the water.
In a vessel, add the sweet potato to freshwater (till all the sweet potato is immersed) and add 1 tbsp of salt, let it settle for 30 mins.
Drain the water from the sweet potato and set it evenly in a cotton cloth to dry the moisture content for 10 -15 mins.
Now get the saltwater ready by adding 1/2 cup water and 3 tbsp salt, let the salt dissolve.
Heat oil in a pan.
Once the oil is heated, add the sweet potato slices to the oil.
Add only the slices till they completely immersed in oil, else it will not fry.
Let the sweet potatoes be frying on medium flame.
Once the spluttering stops, add saltwater as shown to the oil.
Add more if you like the chips to be too salty.
Fry for some time, and then remove the chips from the oil.
A tasty tea-time snack is ready.
